Dennis's obituary

Dennis Wayne Klement, 69, of Midlothian, Virginia went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 12, 2022, after a 10-month battle with metastatic cancer. He journeyed home surrounded by family and friends.

Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Frank Klement, mother Isabelle Wells Klement, stepmother Anne Brummell Klement, and brothers Alvin Frank Klement Jr. and Eugene Michael Klement. He is lovingly remembered and survived by his wife of 43 years, Elizabeth Locklier Klement, and daughters Lauren Moore (Jason), Mary Alyse Klement, and Eleanor Duke (Austin), and 7 grandchildren, Brycen, Coen, Elliott, Everly, Nora, Truett, and Emerson, brother Wilton James Klement (Pat), nieces Danielle and Michelle Klement and nephews Jay Locklier and Alvin Lee Klement.

Dennis graduated from Meadowbrook High School and went on to earn a degree in accounting from Virginia Commonwealth University. Upon graduation, he initially worked for Dun and Bradstreet then Chesterfield County Government Department of Budget and Accounting. He spent over forty years of his career at his beloved Department of General Services for the Commonwealth of Virginia. He retired on June 1, 2020.

While attending VCU, he assisted The Great Coach Jim Rowe in coaching football at Meadowbrook. As a father with three girls, he joined one of his best friends, Wayne Latimer (father of 3 boys), in coaching Chesterfield Quarterback League. One of his greatest joys outside of family, friends, and work was refereeing high school football with the Central Virginia Football Officials Association.

As Dennis grew older, his Christian faith which began as a young boy grew substantially. First at Bon Air Baptist Church and in the Discovery class. Dennis and his family are especially grateful for their Bible Study group who “do life together”. They journeyed this difficult road with Dennis and Elizabeth through prayer and loving acts of service.

They are also thankful to the doctors, nurses, and staff at VCU Hospital and Massey Cancer Center, as well as Hospice of Virginia.

His celebration of life will be held Thursday, August 11th at 11:00 AM at Bethel Baptist, 1100 Huguenot Springs Rd. Midlothian, Virginia 23113.
