Denise's obituary
On January 11th 2025, Denise Marie Sarosky departed this world incredibly too soon after bravely battling cancer. Born on October 13th, 1959, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, she was the youngest child of the late Albert and Pauline ”Polly” Sarosky. Beloved sister to Debbie and Danny. Affectionately called Mema, Nene, Sweet D, and to her adoring daughter – the best mom in the world. Denise was a free spirit with the most beautiful smile and our hearts are so broken by this unexpected loss.
Denise’s passions were as wide as her heart. Among the many things she enjoyed were – good music, singing & dancing, the beach, lilacs & lilies, autobiographies, anything Italian, summertime, tag sales, eggnog, Bravo, ghost stories, all animals, tattoos, Pilates, a good slice of pizza, iced lattes, a fresh manicure, pasta for breakfast, spending time with friends, and above all, her family. She disliked the cold, bad sauce and those offended by a potty mouth.
She was a renowned giver-outer of sweets and popsicles to her three grandchildren. She also introduced them to the magic of Mary Poppins and Tinker Bell, which are now her granddaughter’s favorites. “Mema Friday’s” were a weekly tradition filled with happy memories that will live on in her grandchildren’s hearts forever. Her love for them was unmatched, as were the wild outfits and hats she’d put them in each week.
Denise’s career was filled spent doing what she did best – helping others. Her kindness, patience, and problem solving superpowers helped guide & shape all those she cared for. The beautiful relationships she formed with both her clients & coworkers were lifelong.
Denise passed away knowing that the ocean is the best medicine, Stevie Nicks is the Queen of Rock, and all her daughter’s problems could be solved with her homemade meatballs.
To the sunshine on our cloudy days, we will miss you more than words can express.
In lieu of flowers, her family requests that you perform an unexpected act of kindness. Denise’s legacy is one of giving, and in honoring her memory, we can all carry that spirit forward. And if you can find the time in your day, please share a memory of our unforgettable Denise within the memory section of this website.
A private celebration of life will be held later this spring.
