Denise's obituary
Denise Froneberger, 58, of Huntersville, NC passed away peacefully on November 01, 2022, surrounded by her immediate family. Denise grew up in Charlotte, NC, a town she loved and never left. She went to South Mecklenburg High School and graduated from Harding University High School. She was an incredible athlete, she played basketball, and dominated Track & Field in high school. She worked at Cigna before becoming disabled in 2005.
Prior to her disability in 2005, she was an incredible coach. She was a volunteer coach at Revolution Park Recreation Center, where she was not only a lifeguard while in high school; she also coached cheerleading where her two daughters, nieces, and community girls participated. She was a serious competitor and brought her skillful coaching strategies to Charlotte Elite Track & Field in the early 2000s. She enjoyed sewing, coaching track and field, cooking, playing with her grandkids, and most of all line dancing.
Denise will be dearly missed and always remembered. She was a beautiful person inside and out. She loved going out to the Nile on the weekend to dance, and met many wonderful people who miss her dearly. She struggled through many chronic illnesses and always fought to make it to the next day. Despite many physical and emotional challenges, Denise fought like a warrior to the very end. She would want to be celebrated, in light of this sad time.
Denise was predeceased by Toney Froneberger (brother), Wesley Froneberger (father), Deneen Froneberger-Matthews (daughter), and Frances Smith-Froneberger (mother). She is survived by Deauna Froneberger (daughter), D'Myah Matthews (grand-daughter), Dana Matthews (grand-daughter), Lea Matthews (grand-daughter), Ayrianna Torrence (grand-daughter), LaKayla Matthews (grand-daughter), and Chase Jones (grand-son). She is also survived by Wesley Froneberger (brother), Rick Froneberger (brother), Verlene Froneberger (sister), Teddy Froneberger (brother) Della Funderburk (sister), and many nieces and nephews. Denise requested a celebration of life be held in her honor as opposed to traditional funeral services. We request all of Denise’s loved ones to join us in celebrating their beautiful life at Deauna's house on November 4, 2022 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
