How you can help
Neicey believed in power of education. She fought and scrapped to ensure her daughters received quality educations and higher degrees. She desired every young person have access to the kinds of education that would enable them to be self-sufficient.
Neicey was also an avid community advocate. Her own mother having been a nurse and Neicey's work in Mental Healthcare, led her to help anyone in need access resources they rightfully deserved merely because they were human -- and no human deserved to suffer or be forgotten. She wasn't deterred by a closed door or countless phone calls and meetings. In this self-directed line of work, Denise encountered countless flaws and biases in our medical systems; some of which affected her directly. As a result, she desire to see more young people from local urban neighborhoods improve the healthcare professions for those most vulnerable and stereotyped.
Related to this, Denise was moved by the work of the Shriner's Hospitals as she had first-hand experience with their thoughtfulness in their treatment of her daughter, born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta. Contribute to The Salvation Army USA
