Marco's obituary
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Demarco "Marco" Fitch, fondly known as Marco. Born on November 2, 1989, Demarco left us too soon on April 20, 2025. His light will continue to shine through his beloved family and the lives he touched.
Demarco is survived by his dear mother, Nardalee Townsend, and his cherished daughter, Naomi Fitch. He also leaves behind a loving, extensive family of sisters and brothers: Christina Townsend, Amajinay Orrohoor, Divine Ector, Al’leta Calloway, Monica Harris, Destiny Reynolds, Penda Bell, Sacha Fromansky, Francesca Biaset, Danielle Pope, Constance Washington, Paloma Anders, Kiara Hall, Gracie Harris, Nikki Taylor, Lisa Rubirosa and his brothers, Dexter Taylor, Webster Maxwell, Gino Voight, Kenneth Edwards, Howard Hanes, Clifford Reyes, Andre Layden, Nasir Carter, Rubio Benson, Bashir Sridhar, and Gustavo Diaz.
A man of tasteful pleasures, Demarco relished in the comfort of Pho, Naan, and Chicken Parm, and cherished a cup of Hot Cocoa. His favorite books include "To Kill A Mockingbird", "The Glass Castle", and "The Crucible", while his musical tastes favored Bob Marley, The Tempataions, and Samara Joy. Fans of "The Blacklist" and "Madam Secretary" will have lost a fellow viewer. He held a special place in his heart for the movies "Man on Fire" and "John Q" and appreciated the art of Jackson Pollock.
Demarco was a staunch supporter of the Chicago Blackhawks and the Chicago Cubs, and he enjoyed playing chess. He loved the performances of "Wicked", "Cats", and "Annie". In his leisure time, he enjoyed bird watching and playing chess. His favorite vacation spot was Manitoba, and locally, he loved the Navy Pier.
Demarco was a passionate advocate for the Genesis Project, Black Lives Matter, LGBTQ+, and Suicide Awareness. His favorite colors were blue and gray, reflecting his personality, which was often described as witty, kind, and bubbly. He lived by the belief, "Never apologize for choosing yourself," and he leaves behind a legacy of generosity, kindness, and acceptance.
Demarco's absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the love and memories he nurtured during his time with us.
