Delores's obituary
Dee was born, the youngest of six children to Tollef and Selma Brynjulson in Bismarck, North Dakota. She moved to San Francisco as a young woman and lived the remainder of her life in Northern California, raising her family in San Leandro and Fremont before spending her golden years with her husband of 53 years, Donald Leonard Vis, in Jamestown. After his passing, Dee moved to a retirement community in Pleasanton to be closer to her family and to enjoy life as an avid traveler and friend to many.
As a spiritual woman, Dee attended her local Lutheran Churches and after her career as a high school substitute teacher and administrative assistant, she volunteered for many years at Adventist Health Sonora, the Sonora Repertory Theatre and for the P.E.O. service organization. She loved traveling and spent many years traveling with Don in their motor home as well as exploring the world abroad on cruises and tours, both with Don and later in life with her daughter Pamela.
Dee is preceded in death by her husband Donald, her daughter Pamela, and her siblings J. George, Gerald “Gerry”, Lila McHugh and J. Wesley. She is survived by her brother Robert “Bob”, her sons David (Wendy), Dale (Deb), Larry (Donna) as well as her grandchildren, great grandchildren and her canine companion.
Dee was a wonderful baker and seamstress, an avid skier (until she was 72), a ruthless card game player, a voracious reader and a lover of nature and wine tasting. Her family will miss her sage advice, caring concern and ceaseless love.
