Dee's obituary
Dee Rowland passed away on May 8, 2025 in Halstead, Kansas with family by her side. She was 83 years old. She will be remembered by all those who knew and loved her for her strong faith in the Lord, her love of music and travel, her sense of humor, and the selfless love and sacrifice she demonstrated to her family and friends.
Delores Anne (Williams) Rowland was born on June 29, 1941 in El Dorado, Kansas. She was the youngest of five children born to Alvin Roy Williams and Hazel Angeline (Towne) Williams.
In her career, she worked as a dental assistant and office manager for Dr. Clayton DDS, taught home economics at Wichita Baptist Tabernacle, worked at Century Plastics, spent time as a bookkeeper, worked at Walnut Valley/Commerce Bank, and after retirement worked at All American Accounting.
Her decades-long career at Commerce Bank allowed her the opportunity to be a group travel coordinator and travel the world. She documented and photographed all of her trips that brought her such joy. After retiring, she would travel more locally with her dear friends from high school.
She was a life-long member of Temple Baptist Church and loved her church family. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ, and also singing in the choir. She loved the Lord with all her heart.
She is survived by her children Teresa Pickens of Virginia Beach, VA and Stephanie Fountain of Shawnee, KS, and her grandchildren Cassidy Pickens of Virginia Beach, VA, Caleigh Pickens of Newton, KS, Cameron Pickens of Newton, KS, and Courtney Fountain and her husband Joshua of Shawnee, KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Angie, and siblings Wayne, Wendell, Lois, and (Violet) Louise.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Temple Baptist Church. Address: 925 Douglas Road, El Dorado, KS 67042. A private graveside ceremony at Towanda Cemetery will be held for family members.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Missions Fund at Temple Baptist Church.
