Delores's obituary
Delores Martin Small, née Delores Sarah Kennedy was born to her cherished mother, homemaker Mae Elizabeth Kennedy, and her esteemed father, WWI veteran Robert Stewart Kennedy on December 24th, 1934. She transitioned on the morning of October 8th, 2024. Delores is preceded in death by her husband Willie Small and former husband Sandy Martin.
She is survived by her children, Kamaria Muntu, born as Tracey De Sandra Martin, Raymond Small and Nicole Small-Oke. In addition to 7 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
A graduate of Coppin State and John's Hopkins universities, Delores was an educator in the Baltimore, Maryland School System for 50+ years, reaching the status of Master Teacher and writing curriculum for Maryland Public Schools, including Maryland State standardised tests.
Delores loved pinocle, good wine, bird watching, politics and "Star Trek the Next Generation". The Martin-Muntu family have chosen to tribute their mother and grandmother respectively
in this way;
Kamaria recalls her mother's love of watching birds from the kitchen window, and as such, a Blue Jay and Robin have been adopted in Delores' name from the National Audubon Society. A star in the constellation of Capricornus named "Delores Sarah Kennedy" has been placed welcoming Delores into the celestial realm, as her grandson, Raymond, has fond remembrances of the two of them watching "Star Trek the Next Generation" together, and her granddaughter Charlee, recollects their passionate political debates. Additionally, in tribute to Delores's much beloved father and mother, Kamaria, Raymond and Charlee would like you to know that a commemorative brick to honour Delores and her parents will be placed on Memorial Day 2025 at the National Museum of the US Army, where she can be visited. Delores is greatly missed.
