Delores's obituary

Delores Kay "Dee" Grimes, 84, passed away on March 19, 2025, in North Port, Florida. Born on June 5, 1940, in Kewanee, Illinois, she lived a life filled with love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those around her.

Delores was the heart of her family, a woman whose love knew no bounds. She lived to love and did so unconditionally—always intentional and present in every moment. Her contagious giggle, kind voice, and warm smile had a way of embracing those around her. She was the glue that held her family together, often at the center of playful debates over who was her "favorite."

Throughout her life, Delores dedicated herself to caring for others. She worked in healthcare for many years before spending nearly two decades at Walmart, where she never met a stranger. Her warmth and kindness made an impact on everyone she encountered.

She had a passion for baking and passed down her sweet tooth through the delicious treats she lovingly prepared. A devoted grandmother and great-grandmother, she cherished time outdoors and never missed an opportunity to explore garage sales or search for seashells along the Florida beaches or take  road trips with her beloved sister Roberta. To all the kids' friends, she was simply "Grandma Dee," always welcoming with open arms and an understanding heart.

Delores is survived by her daughters Vicki Rosenfelder, Chris Jones (Rob), and Jodi Steadman; grandchildren Kacee Willis (Terrence), Shane Jones (Hunter), and Brandon Jones and Allyson Steadman; and great-grandchildren Cailyn Homer-Cunningham, Camille Homer-Cunningham, Tierney Willis, and Ian Jones.

She was preceded in death by her beloved sister Roberta Stone; mother Fern Wetzel; the love of her life Walter Grimes; and her cherished pet Shelby.

There are not enough words to fully capture who Delores was to those who loved her—she was life itself to many. Her legacy of love will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
