Delores's obituary

Delores "Cherry" Duncan, 83, resident of The City Of Sunrise, Fort Lauderdale passed away unexpectedly on the 29th of March after a long  illness. She was surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Her professionalism, and warm mannered  personality was an obvious choice in becoming part of the committee that served the City of Sunrise. In 2007 she  became one of the founding members of the East Sunrise Association, and it was there she was appointed President that position lasted for many years.

Profoundly impactful in the community whilst working with the East Residents Association and City of Sunrise Homeowners Association she became well know for her philanthropic activities because of that she will be forever missed.

Cherry had many things she was passionate about, serving the Lord, family, friends and working towards a comfortable life.  One of her passions and desire was to enjoy everything sports related. Softball was a sport she loved to play growing up. Basketball, football and tennis were her favorite sports to watch and that grew increasing more once she moved to the USA, from Kingston Jamaica.

Once in America, Delores quickly made a name for herself within any community she lived in, whilst married and raising her four children. Her siblings and her friends were her rock which made her strive to want more out of life for herself and for her family.  Having worked in different professions she was able to learn how to utilize what God had given her and was able to carve out a very successful work and family life that afforded her to grow spiritually everyday.

Delores also found herself involved in a number of  community projects which allowed her to mentor young people and offer them scholarships.

With a large family and even larger group of friends, her loss is truly and deeply felt.

Delores was predeceased by her sister Gwendolyn Hammond and Beryl Hammond. She is survived by her brother Eric Hammond and Dolly Hammond as well as her son Steve and daughters Dawn, Judy and Tricia Duncan.

The family asks that donations be made in memory of Delores "Cherry" Duncan.

Thank you from the Duncan and Hammond family.
