Delina's obituary

Delina Bunch was born on April 16, 1934, in Demopolis, Alabama to the union of Jack and Ruthie Mae Lewis. She was the ninth child born of fourteen siblings. Twelve siblings preceded her in death.

Delina grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana. At an early age she accepted Christ and serviced faithful in several positions within the church.

On June 2, 1951, Delina was very blessed to unite in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life Rev. Peter William Bunch, Sr. who preceded her in death after 52 years of marriage. To this union seven children were born. Three preceded her in death Sylvia, Doretha and Debra Ann.

In 1956, Delina and her husband moved to California with their first three children. Delina worked for the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services as a Group Supervisor until she retired.

Delina Bunch united with the Holy St. Andrews Missionary Baptist Church, October 3, 1979 and assumed to title of Mother Delina Bunch. She loved the Lord and exemplified her love in the most caring and unselfish ways. She served faithfully as a member of the Sunday School, the Bible Class, the Sr. Mission, the Choir, the Usher Board, the Pastor’s Aide, and the Mother’s Board. A woman who quietly gave of herself, and never sought the limelight: but always directed the light to shine on someone else. Today, however, that light, full of love is reflected back on her.

Mother Bunch demonstrated and was a living example of a Godly Woman. She worked and served unselfishly with the Pastor and members of Holy St. Andrews until she relocated to Kennesaw, Georgia. Her faithfulness, dedication and selflessness: her wisdom, and her unwavering love and compassion for those in need will be surely missed.

In Mother Delina’s newfound home in Georgia, she placed her church membership at Thankful Baptist Church in Kennesaw, Georgia and serviced as the president of the Mother’s Board until her health began to decline.

Mother Delina leaves to cherish her memories, her youngest brother George Hardy, one son Rev. Peter W. Bunch, Jr. (Beverly Bunch), of Van Nuys, CA, three daughters Priscilla Bunch of Kennesaw, GA, Cynthia Bunch of Acworth, GA and Felicia Bunch-Russell (Desmond Russell) of Kennesaw, GA, six grandchildren, Sherrod Douglas (LaKisha Douglas), Lachonda LeDay (Raymond LeDay), Peter W. Bunch, III, Rhayne Russell, and two which preceded her in death Bevtoya and Joshua. Five great-grandchildren, Que’ Hall (Darius Hall), Sherrod Douglas Jr., Essence Douglas, Laila Bunch and Taden Bunch, and one great-great-grandson, Landon Hall, and a host of extended relatives and friends.

We pay tribute to the virtuous woman of God, who was beautifully clothed in love, strength, and dignity, and spoke words of encouragement, wisdom, and faith. She watched over her family and her household called her blessed. Though her hands cannot be touched, the cherished memories of our adored Delina live on as a keepsake in our hearts.
