Delia's obituary
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Delia Rose Ricardo. She was a loving, caring wife, mother and friend. Delia was a gregarious person and her kindness and warmth always left a positive impression on those she met.
Delia, "Dee dee" was born on O'ahu on September 13, 1951 to Nemesio and Alionora Marcos. She was the middle of five children and grew up mostly in Manoa Valley where she attended Maryknoll School through the 12th grade and moved on to attend the University of Hawaii. While at university, she chose to study early childhood education to become a kindergarten teacher. This is also where she met the man she would marry, have a daughter with and spend the next 54 years of her life with.
Dee dee was an incredibly creative and passionate person who expressed this through her many talents. Some of which included cooking up mouthwatering culinary delights, creating impressive floral displays or sewing one-of-a-kind costumes for all the kids in the family. She could turn a simple yard into an oasis or wonderland full of lights. She turned her love for Christmas into starting a collection of what is now a fabled assemblage of Santa Claus figurines. No matter what she did, she put forth 100% effort.
Dee dee loved to dance and sing. She was usually first on the dance floor at parties, plus she’d sing her heart out whether she had an audience, a singing partner or just in the house while cooking or cleaning. Dee dee’s dynamic and warm personality, infectious smile, willingness to help whomever needed it and hugs will be greatly missed by all her friends, family and the many children she helped raise in addition to her own daughter.
Dee dee is survived by her husband Ramon Ricardo, her daughter, Rachelle Ricardo, her siblings, Maria Pine, Arthur Marcos, Carmela Kane, her nephews, Justin Marcos, (his children Arin and Nell), David Pine and his wife Melanie and their sons Cade (wife Jessica and daughter Lyla) and Jax, Khonnor Wokasch-Marcos, and her niece Arianne Kippen (husband Jacob).
Dee dee was preceded in death by her parents, Nemesio and Alionora, her younger brother Bobby and nephew Arin.
A mass to celebrate the life of Delia will be held at St. Pius X Church in Manoa, Honolulu, Hawaii on Tuesday, June 17th, 2025 at 10 AM.
