Delbert's obituary
Delbert was born on August 31, 1925 in Haywood, West Virginia and joined the US Navy at age 18. He was a WWII Navy Veteran, part of the Pacific Fleet on the USS Hogan. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife Merle Berres of 76 years, and his four children - Jackie, Margo, Cynde, and Charlie; his 7 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.
After his service in the Navy, he became an Aeronautical Engineer on a GI scholarship. After leaving a successful career in aerospace, he later became a nationally recognized salesman for Southwestern Petroleum Corporation and then retired as an avocado rancher in Temecula, CA. This was the last of four houses Merle and him built from the ground up. Delbert will forever be remembered for his love for his family, football, adventures across the US visiting national parks, and building soap box cars for derby races for his family.
