Dear family and friends,
It is with heavy hearts that we share the unexpected passing of Deimentrius Clay, fondly known as Ms. Dee, on November 27th, 2023. Ms. Dee, a beloved member of Oakland community, was residing in Frisco, TX, alongside her only daughter Ariel Clay.
In this challenging time, we kindly seek your support to assist in covering the burial, transportation of remains, and final expenses to ensure Ms. Dee finds peace in her resting place in Oakland, CA – her cherished hometown. Your contribution will help honor her memory with the dignified farewell she deserves.
Ms. Dee dedicated her life to serving the community through Oakland's Southern Café Restaurant & Catering and Lady Esther's Southern Cafe, where she served as owner and executive chef. Her culinary expertise graced the tables of Oakland residents, numerous celebrities, and even 20+ seasons with the Oakland Raiders. Born in New Iberia, LA, Ms. Dee was raised in Oakland, CA, under the loving guidance of her mother, Lady Esther Clay, the founder of Southern Café. Her educational journey included Laurel Elementary School, Bret Harte Middle School, and graduating from Oakland High School in the class of 1981. She pursued higher education at Cal State Hayward, majoring in Business Administration. Deimentrius is survived by her daughter, Ariel Clay.
A memorial celebration will be held in Oakland at a later date to honor Ms. Dee's remarkable life. Your generosity and support during this difficult time will ensure that Ms. Dee is remembered and celebrated fittingly. Any contribution, no matter the size, is deeply appreciated.
