Debra's obituary

Debra Rich Beck, born April 26, 1952, in Los Angeles, California, to Max Shepard and June Rich, passed away peacefully in her sleep March 3, 2026, in her St. George home. She was raised in Roy, Utah, and spent a part of her childhood living in France. She is survived by her four children, Sean, Dennis, Janet, and Jennifer; her grandchildren Alycia, Jason, Dustin, Ryan, Alex, Jessica, Dylan, Adrian, Madeline, Micaela, and Gabriel; her younger brother Scott; and her longtime partner and soulmate, Keith Beck. She became a mother young, raising four children with her husband at the time, Alan Montierth. In the late 1980s, Debi returned to school and earned her cosmetology license. She then worked in a barber shop, eventually opening and owning her own businesses after separating from Alan in 1988. In 2011, she reconnected with Keith Beck whom she shared 15 years with, building a home together with their 3 dogs, Buddy, Kian, and Summer. Despite facing significant health challenges later in life, she remained surrounded by family and in the care of those closest to her. A private celebration of life will be held on her birthday, April 26th in Washington, Utah.

Debi was a woman of resilience, heart, and humor who carried both strength and warmth through every stage of her life. She worked hard, loved deeply, and took pride in the life she built, whether that was a warm home for her children, a beautiful garden, home-baked desserts, or the businesses she created with nothing but her own determination. She set an example, and her children followed. They are all four successful, with families of their own and accomplished careers. That was never by accident. It came from the values she lived every day: resilience, hard work, and a love that never wavered. Long before there was stability, there were years of sacrifice. Of doing everything she could to give her children more than she had. In the lives they built, you can still see her, in their strength and in the way they care for others. In the late 90s, Debi fell victim to the opioid crisis, the first time the medical industry failed her. At the time, many including Debi were unaware of the repercussions it would have. During one of the hardest chapters of her life, she found a great love in Keith Beck. With him, she found not only companionship, but steady support, laughter, and a sense of peace that helped bring her back to herself. In 2023, Debi had a pain stimulator procedure which resulted in permanent paralysis from the waist down. Keith remained by her side and loved and cared for her until the end. Perseverant is an understatement when it comes to describing the woman she was. She never lost her sense of humor, always joking to bring smiles to those around her despite her own challenges, even “dancing” in her wheelchair knocking furniture down. She kept a very close relationship with Jennifer’s family in her last years. Her grandchildren brought her so much joy, always teaching her new “lingo”. She cherished the bond she had with all of them, laughing with them, learning from them, and always making sure they each knew how much she loved them. She will be remembered for her strength, her wit, and the way she made the people in her life feel truly cared for.
