Debra's obituary
Debra Jane Ramos, 61, of Dallas, TX, passed away on February 13, 2024, at Timeless Care Homes assisted living facility, after a courageous 10-year battle with Melanoma. Her faith, tenacity, grace, resilience, and fearlessness served as a beacon of inspiration to her network of friends and colleagues.
Born on May 11, 1962, in San Antonio, TX, to Serafin Castro Ramos and Carrie Aguilar Ramos, Debra's journey was marked by a strong sense of style and a passion for fashion. After she graduated from Incarnate Word High School in 1979, she pursued a career in fashion and interior design after earning an associate’s degree from Miss Wade’s Fashion Merchandising College in Dallas in 1985. Her keen attention to detail and investigative skills later led her to a career as a paralegal and administrative assistant.
In 2003, Debra started her career at Citibank NA, where she dedicated over two decades of service as a senior accounting administrative assistant. She took great pride in her work, serving on site steering committees, volunteering, and demonstrating her unwavering commitment to her colleagues.
Outside of her professional life, Debra was renowned for her love and devotion to animals especially her cherished furry companions, Ozzie, Opal, Olive and Oreo who held a special place in her heart. She actively volunteered and supported Operation Kindness, Leave No Paws behind and SPCA of Dallas.
Debra will be remembered for her honesty, work ethic, and sassy, fashionable spirit. Her hobbies included thrifting, baking, volunteering, and interior decorating. Those who were fortunate to know her will forever cherish her kindness, meticulousness, and no-nonsense witty loving spirit.
Debra adored the UT Southwestern Staff and the Timeless Care Homes Assisted Living staff who provided compassionate care until her passing. Grateful friends appreciate the exceptional care she received.
She is preceded in death by her parents Serafin Castro Ramos and Carrie Aguilar Ramos and Grand Parents: Isabel C. Ramos, Francisco Castro Ramos, Bacilio Aguilar and Juanita Lugo Aguilar.
Friends, colleagues and caregivers will gather for a private celebration of life gathering in Debra's honor on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Stewart Hall in Grapevine, TX, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Leave No Paws Behind, Operation Kindness, SPCA of Texas, St. Jude’s, or the Cleveland Armory. A special commemorative garden volunteer project at Timeless Care Homes Assisted Living is planned in April in her remembrance.
