It is with saddened hearts that we bid farewell to DJ O'Connor, a remarkable woman who brought light and unbridled joy to everyone she encountered. DJ shared her final smile on April 24, 2025, leaving behind a world that was undeniably better for her presence.

DJ was born in the mid-summer of 1956 (perhaps explaining her love for being a “slug in the sun”) and was blessed with a personality that can only be described as magnetic. Her kindness, generosity, and wit were infectious, drawing people to her and creating bonds that lasted a lifetime. This kindness was the bedrock upon which she built numerous lasting relationships throughout her life, creating a community that spans generations and geographies.

Those who knew DJ best will remember her as a tireless advocate, a loyal friend, and a loving family member. Her ability to make others feel seen, heard, and appreciated was a remarkable gift - one she shared freely and generously.  DJ had a knack for brightening up any room she entered, warming hearts with her laugh and lighting up faces with her beaming smile.

Much of DJ’s life was marked by her unwavering dedication to those she loved and the causes she believed in - she spent 20 years serving the Muscular Dystrophy Association.  She was a beautifully resilient woman who faced various trials and tribulations head-on, never shying from a challenge. The courage she displayed in her every endeavor was inspirational. Despite her many personal victories, DJ remained humble, and in her humility, she found incredible strength.

She is preceded in death by her adoring husband of 31 years, Tom O’Connor, her parents (Jean and Joe), and her grandson Bobby.   She is survived by 2 sisters (and their spouses), 4 children, multiple grandchildren, several nieces, and countless friends that will all fondly remember her as a radiant force of positivity!

Indeed, DJ was well-loved and will be dearly missed. But, as we mourn our loss, we remember the tremendous impact she had on all of us. DJ taught us the true meaning of compassion and understanding, showed us the beauty of generosity, and opened our eyes to the magic that lies in life’s simple moments. These lessons, timeless and invaluable, serve as the pillars of her legacy.

DJ believed deeply that a warm smile could brighten any day! Although she has left this earthly realm, we honor her effervescent spirit each time we share her compassion, infectious optimism and deep-rooted kindness with others.

So, let us remember her, not with tears, but with a bright, warm smile - the same smile that she used to light up our lives. Rest in peace DJ.
