Debra's obituary

Debra "Debbie" Marinelli, affectionately known as "Macka" to her cherished granddaughter, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, February 20th, 2024, at Westside Hospital in Plantation, Florida, surrounded by her loving family. She was 69 years old.

Born on August 19th, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan, Debra embraced life with boundless enthusiasm and unwavering courage. Over 40 years ago, she made the Sunshine State her home, where she pursued a successful career in new construction management. A devoted fan of both the Detroit Lions and the Miami Dolphins, Debra's passion for football was matched only by her love for crafting, sewing, cooking, and reading.

Debra found great joy in spending time with her daughter, Dawn, and her granddaughter, Sydney. They shared many treasured memories together baking, crafting, and listening to music. Debra and her daughter enjoyed bonding over their shared love of The Beatles.

In 2015, Debra faced the formidable challenge of Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer with remarkable resilience. Throughout her courageous battle, she underwent rigorous chemotherapy, radiation, and a mastectomy. Ever determined, Debra participated in a clinical cancer trial in March 2023, contributing to groundbreaking research and offering hope to countless others fighting the same battle. Despite facing unforeseen complications, Debra remained steadfast in her determination to make a difference.

Debra will forever be remembered for her indomitable spirit, warmth, and unwavering love for her family. She is survived by her devoted daughter Dawn (Jake) of Boca Raton, FL, granddaughter Sydney of Boca Raton, FL, partner Stuart Garber of Lauderhill, FL, brother Gerard (Vicki) of Lapeer, MI, and great aunt Beverly (Walter predeceased) of Fort Collins, CO. She was predeceased by her beloved parents, Donna and Harold Cyplik.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 6th, 2024, from 10 AM to 12 PM, at Gary Panoch Funeral Home & Cremations, located at 6140 N Federal Hwy, Boca Raton, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Debra's memory to the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation at floridabreastcancer.org/donate.

Debra's legacy of courage, resilience, and love will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
