Debby's obituary

Debra Libby (née Jones), 62, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Titusville, Florida, on April 17, 2026.

Debby was born on September 13, 1963, in Portland, Maine, to John and Linda Jones. She spent many years working in production line roles before recently retiring, having built a life defined not by titles, but by resilience, independence, and authenticity.

She was predeceased by her parents, John and Linda Jones of Titusville, Florida, and by her former husband, Nelson Libby. Though their marriage ended, Debby and Nelson remained the closest of friends until his passing in 2014—a testament to her loyalty and the deep connections she maintained throughout her life.

Debby lived life on her own terms. A proud gay woman, she embraced the world with curiosity, courage, and a desire to experience all that she could. One of her proudest personal accomplishments was skydiving—an experience she carried with her as a symbol of fearlessness and joy.

Above all else, Debby’s greatest pride was her family. She was a devoted mother and a loving “Nana,” roles that brought her the deepest happiness. She is survived by her son, Jimmy Libby and his wife, Ginelle, of Arroyo Grande, California; and her daughter, Jamilee Libby and her husband, Ian, of South Portland, Maine. She also leaves behind her four beloved grandchildren: River, Maksim, Charlie, and Ellie, who were the light of her life.

Debby was one of six children and is also survived by her siblings: Brett Bass, Roger Jones, Robert Jones, Terry Jones, and Barbara Jones.

She had a passion for politics, a love for good snacks, and a special fondness for The Wizard of Oz, a film she cherished. She will be remembered for her strong spirit, her honesty, her sense of humor, and the fierce love she had for those closest to her.

There will be no services at this time.

Though she is gone from this world, She leaves behind a legacy of strength and kindness. We will miss you terribly.

To quote her all-time favorite show, The Golden Girls, “Thank you for being a friend.”
