Background
Our beautiful mother’s passing was fast and unexpected. We are beyond heartbroken, as we know you all are, too. She was only 58 years young. We are thankful she is finally out of the extreme pain she was enduring the last few days of her life, but the emotional pain with losing her so unexpectedly is devastating.
To make this already devastating time more difficult, we (her two children) do not have the assets needed to fund her final resting expenses, as she did not have any savings at all, has been a widow since 2001, and she did not have the mental or physical capacity to set anything up in “time” due to her abrupt multi-organ failure, and being so young.
Anything graciously donated on our mom’s behalf, will all be used to offset her cremation expenses, including the necessary permits, funeral home expenses, death certificates, the local newspaper obituary publication costs, and a “Celebration of Life” event we will host for all in memory and honor of Debby’s life, and the beautiful impact she had on us all. Any additional funds beyond our immediate fund goal, will be used to purchase urns for her cremated remains, as sadly, the crematory only sends your loved ones remains home with you in a plastic container. Our mom deserves better.
Her final earthly wishes were, “for everyone to just have a good time!” because, that’s just who Deb was, and we know that she would want to be remembered as such. We need to honor this selfless, inspirational and, one of a kind soul, who was ALWAYS the first one there for each of us.
Her physical body resting place wishes were for part of her cremated remains to be mixed with our late stepdads remains, and be sent off the bridge where her and our late stepdad were married, with the other part of her cremated remains to go out to sea off of Point Judith, R.I., where her five late siblings remains are laid to rest at a specific coordinate.
Point Judith, Narragansett, R.I. will be where her “Celebration of Life” ceremony will be held for all those who wish to honor and celebrate our mom, and your Deb.
