Debbie's obituary

We mourn the passing of Deborah "Debbie" Treichel Chicoski, who left us on January 7, 2024, after a battle with bile duct cancer. Born on March 26, 1957, Debbie lived a life marked by love, generosity, and at times, a healthy stubbornness. Over her lifetime, she amassed an abundant amount of fun, love, and respect from all who really knew her.

Debbie was a pillar of strength and devotion for her family, survived by her sons, Christopher Yerkes and Matt Yerkes, as well as her daughter-in-law, Kat Hall. Her life partner, Ken Smoil, stood by her side, sharing in both her many joys and challenges. Her family served as her life's prime focus, and she took immense pride in raising her two boys, helping to shape them into fine gentlemen with much of her kindness, wisdom, and life lessons. The most profound of these lessons was treating others with love and respect - a principle that Debbie herself lived by every day.

In addition to her devotion to her family, Debbie was a friend like no other. Her warmth, unwavering support, and generous spirit made her an indispensable part of many lives. Accessible, loving, and always ready to lend a hand, she epitomized the very essence of friendship. Her legacy of extreme kindness and generosity will continue to live on through the countless hearts she has touched.

Debbie had a creative flair, evident in her beautiful counted cross-stitching art, a hobby that brought both beauty and relaxation into her life. She shared a love for the TV sitcom "Frasier" with her son Chris and daughter-in-law Kat, often enjoying laughter-filled evenings together. Her passion for Disney World was infectious; she adored going there to experience what she called “The Magic” with her family and friends, spreading joy and creating lasting memories. Debbie was also an exceptional grandmother to her granddogs Henry, Peppa, and Pancho. These furry companions seemed to love their "Gingy" more than their real parents, a testament to Debbie's loving and nurturing spirit.

As a tribute to Debbie's memory, we kindly ask that you consider making a contribution to "The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation" instead of sending flowers. You can make your donations at https://cholangiocarcinoma.or… directly or through this website https://everloved.com/life-of….

We remember Debbie today not with sorrow, but with appreciation for her generous heart, her unassuming love, and her immense capacity for kindness. Her absence will be deeply felt, but her influence will remain, a testament to a life beautifully lived. To say she will be missed is an understatement; the void left by her passing can never be filled. However, we will find comfort in her memories and the love she has left behind.
