Deborah's obituary
Deborah Joan (Madson) Halgrimson Age 72 of Northfield Mn died peacefully Tues July 4th at Three Links Care Center with her loving family at her side.
Deborah Passed away after a lifelong battle with Heart Disease.
Deb was born April 20th 1951 to Harold and Ida (Henry) Madson, Dairy farmers in the Union Lake area of Lonsdale MN. As a twin in a family of 7 daughters, her stories of their chores and antics were entertaining and heartwarming. She was baptized at Christiania Lutheran Church of Lakeville, Confirmed at Trondheam Church in Lonsdale Mn and a 1970 Graduate of Northfield High School.
Deb worked at Sheldahl in Northfield for 32 years, where she treasured her many friends and memories that carried on, long after her early retirement.
Deb married Gary Rasmussen in 1969 at St Peters Church in Northfield Mn. They celebrated the birth of their first child, Robert in 1970 and soon after, a daughter Cindy in 1971. They lived and raised their family in Northfield.
As life's paths unfolded, they eventually chose separate roads to follow and discover what more, life had in store for them.
In 1987 she married Kenneth Halgrimson and they resided in Cannon Falls Mn for many years. They sold their home and became "Snow Birds" for a few seasons; eventually landing back in Cannon Falls near family once again.
Following their separation in 2017, she moved to Plum City Wisconsin to be near her children and their family. She kept busy volunteering at the food pantry and many school fundraisers. She made many friends quickly when she moved to this small town! She enjoyed spending time on the farm with Cindy and Joel, reminding her of her childhood. When Covid drove them off the farm and back to Northfield, she was also able to return to Northfield to be near her sisters, family and old friends once again. She made many friends in her new home, who cared for her dearly and that she enjoyed morning coffee and luncheons with. She was a homebody though, enjoying coloring, crime shows and sending cards!
Deb bravely battled heart issues for most of her life. Having a big heart was her super power, but also her villain many times.
Deb cared deeply for her family and enjoyed holidays and parties to hear all about their latest successes! Everyone knew Nana! She enjoyed cheering on her grand daughters in their sporting events and playing cards/ dice with them! She loved butterflies and truly believed they were someone visiting from Heaven! She was welcomed into heaven on Independence Day with what we believe was an incredible celebration of freedom, reunion with family members and most of all, a loving reception from Jesus, who has restored her to a healthy and abundant life.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday July 21st, 2023 at Trondhjem Church in Lonsdale Mn at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be held 1 hour before her service and a light luncheon will be served following her funeral service.
Deb is survived by her son Robert ( Robin) Rasmussen of Eleva Wisc, daughter Cindy (Joel) Thomas of Dundas, Grandchildren Jarrett Rasmussen of Farmington, Karsyn (Michael) Lee of New Market, Victoria Sims (Ryan Johnson)of Jordan, Mallory, Samantha and Cassandra Thomas of Dundas, her sisters Lynette Madson of Faribault, Barb Chlan of Montgomery and Kristi Poore ( Harv) of Warsaw.
