Deborah's obituary

Deborah Anne Greenfield, born April 21, 1944, passed away on October 22, 2023 in the presence of her daughters, Cathy and Kelley. Known fondly by family and friends as Debbie, she will be remembered for her strength, courage, quick wit and vibrant smile. Debbie was preceded in death earlier this spring by her husband of 42 years, Jack Greenfield. As a servant of Jesus, Debbie always sought to encourage those around her. Her unquenchable love and devotion for God and for her family was a model and blessing to us all.

Born in Orange, CA to Alice and Leo Lipert, Debbie grew up, lived and worked in southern California until moving to the Redding area in 1988 with the love of her life, Capt. Jack Greenfield. Over the course of her adult life, Debbie worked as an executive secretary or administrative assistant in a variety of capacities for domestic and foreign corporations and most notably, for California State Senator Maurice Johannessen. Perhaps her favorite endeavors were those in which her artistic flair and creativity could flourish. She loved gardening and was a former member of the Shasta Rose Society. Debbie was also the owner of Goose Hill Farm Cookies and Pineapple Productions, a small video production company in Redding.

Debbie was also a true patriot. Undoubtedly, one of her greatest honors was being “The Captain’s Lady.” She was abundantly proud to support her husband in his decades-long service to our Nation as a member of the United States Coast Guard Reserve.

A devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, Debbie leaves behind her daughters Cathy, Kelley, Mia, and Amie and son John. She also leaves behind a grandson, Alessandro and four granddaughters Alix, Amanda, Emma, and Alena. Debbie will also be dearly missed by her siblings, Vickie, Leo and Paul along with their spouses and children.

Debbie’s absence will be keenly felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her. As we mourn her passing, we find comfort in knowing she is at last reunited with her Lord and her husband.

May her memory be a blessing and her legacy continue to inspire those she touched. Debbie, your time here may have ended, but your spirit will remain forever in our hearts.

A Celebration of Debbie’s life will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 10 AM at the Eastside Memorial Park in Minden, Nevada.
