Deborah's obituary
Deborah "Debbie" Fortier, a warm and epic spirit, departed this world on June 27, 2025. She filled every space she entered with love, laughter and unwavering resilience. Known to many as Debbie, Deb, Aunt Deb or Bobby, her favorite nickname—and perhaps the one that best captured her heart—was Nana Deb.
Deb had a remarkable gift for connection. Whether at a grocery store, a workplace, or simply in passing, she made friends everywhere she went—and many of those friends became family. She nurtured relationships with deep affection, loyalty and humor, always making others feel seen and valued.
She was also a woman of extraordinary intellect. A proud MENSA member, Deb possessed a brilliant and strategic mind that made her a force to be reckoned with in any setting. Her talents were recognized early and often, especially during her time at Xerox, where she was hired for multiple positions that relied heavily on her sharp thinking and visionary approach. Her ability to navigate complex problems and develop thoughtful solutions left a lasting impact on the people and teams she worked with.
A lifelong lover of animals, Deb shared a special bond with creatures great and small. Her compassion for animals was not just a trait, but a way of life—caring, protective and full of joy. Her beloved Sir G will miss her deeply, just as much as all her friends and family she held dear.
Her life was a vibrant mosaic of experiences across Canada and the United States, touching countless hearts along the way. Her strength, spirit and love will echo in the memories of all who knew her.
Deb will be profoundly missed, but her memory will live on as a beacon of kindness, connection, strength and warmth.
