Deborah “Debbie” Fernandez
April 11, 1958 – November 19, 2024
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Deborah Fernandez, lovingly known as “Debbie,” whose vibrant spirit touched everyone she met. Born on April 11, 1958, Debbie was a force of nature with a remarkable zest for life and an endlessly positive outlook.
Debbie brought her enthusiasm to her work, running her own roofing business with determination and a passion for connecting with others. Beyond her professional life, she found her greatest joy in her family. She was a devoted grandmother to her three beloved grandchildren. One of her favorite pastimes was taking them to Stony Creek, where they created cherished memories filled with laughter, exploration, and love.
As a wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend she brought fun, and warmth into every room she entered. Her adventurous spirit and love for nature moved her. Everyday was a beautiful day no matter the weather. She relished in the small pleasures of a sunset, a beautiful cloud or even a rainy day. She was a true music lover, finding joy and connection through the melodies that moved her.
Debbie will be remembered for her boundless enthusiasm, her infectious smile, and her ability to bring out the best in everyone and everything. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and countless moments of joy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband Mario Fernandez, her mother Joan Ramsay, her sisters Kathy Huhta (Charlie Huhta) and Karen Bourdage (Brian Bourdage), her two children Mario Fernandez (Teresa Fernandez) and Clare Ceresnie (Aaron Ceresnie), her grandchildren Penelope Fernandez, Cecilia Fernandez, and Lorenzo Fernandez. She is preceded in death by her father George Ramsay (2017). In honor of her life, the family asks that you celebrate Debbie’s memory by embracing the same adventurous and joyful approach she brought to her own life every day.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Universalist Unitarian Church of Farmington in Farmington Hills, Michigan on December 14, 2024 at noon.
