Background
Deborah Dee Burton, lovingly known as Debby, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025, in Wichita, Kansas, at the age of 75, surrounded by her family. Born on January 9, 1950, in Russell, Kansas, Debby was the daughter of Robert Dale Resley and Bessie La Deane Coles-Macke.
Debby grew up in Plainville, Kansas, where she met and married the love of her life, Ron Burton. Later they moved to Hays, Kansas, where they built a life together and raised two daughters.
She was admired and recognized on many occasions for her dedication, leadership, and management skills during her 35 years of employment.
She had a passion for reading, mainly books written by Stephen King and Dean Koontz. She enjoyed bowling, spending time with her friends and family, especially during summertime trips to the lake. Debby was known for her ornery personality, a witty sense of humor, usually with a mature twist (thanks to growing up with 4 brothers), easy going nature and the ability to make deep connections with people that led to lifelong friendships. She was not only the best mom EVER, but she also loved being a mom and was always so proud of her girls even throughout life’s challenges.
Debby is surived by her daughters, Amy (Resley) Burton and Teresa (Terry) Clark; her siblings Bob Resley, Becky Eklund (Bill) and Mitzi (Keith) Randy, Shane Macke; grandchildren Jordan Burton, Lexi Clark and Layken Clark; and great-grandchildren Irie and Walker.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, her husband Ron Burton, and siblings Richard, Danny, Brian Resley and Melissa Schremmer.
In honoring Debby’s final wishes, she and her beloved husband Ron will be carried to a place that held deep meaning to them both; a place where they spent many happy, fun-filled memories together with family and friends over their 36 years together.
In lieu of flowers, as beautiful as they are, donations can be made to support the family with any unexpected funeral expenses in her honor. Contribute
