Deborah Ann Kirkwood was a remarkable woman whose story is as rich and vibrant as the city of Memphis itself. Born on a spring Tuesday in 1952, at the heart of Shelby County, she was the first joy of Sammie Lee Kirkwood, who had journeyed from Mississippi to Memphis, with her family who were seeking a new life.
