Background
Hello everyone! I have started a fundraiser on behalf of Debbie Hicks who just passed away after a hard 4 1/2-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. It had gotten progressively worse and she was unable to work. She Retired from Panama Beuna Vista Union School District in Bakersfield, Ca as a Secretary for several schools. She also assisted her husband, Le Roy Hicks in Competitive Roller Skating for 8 years and produced many Champion Roller Skaters.
Debbie enjoyed being a Church Youth Leader for over 6 years to help young girls with their walk with God.
Debbie leaves behind 2 adult children and three granddaughters. This disease quickly stripped her of most of her motor skills and in the last two years, I became overnight her caregiver and did everything for her all day and night. Within the last 8 months, she was taken by ambulance 12 times to a hospital for seizures and falls. Once home after two weeks she had massive seizures and threw up along with diarrhea 6 or more times a day that lasted for weeks. After a week's stay again in a hospital she was transferred to Hoffman Hospice and passed away in pain a hard cruel death. There were many out-of-pocket expenses along with standard bills that went unpaid. The medical bills now have grown to exceed $15,308.00
The Burial and small Celebration of Life will be $8,726.
