Deanna's obituary
Deanna Schneider (Feaster) passed away on August 22, 2025 in Houston, TX after a 19-year battle
with cancer. Born on November 13, 1967 in Fort Worth, TX, Deanna found joy at a young age through
dance and performed multiple times in The Nutcracker with the Fort Worth Ballet. She attended Nolan
High School where she received the Marian Award, the highest honor given by the school’s faculty
and was accepted into the ballet program at Texas Christian University. Upon transferring to
Southwestern University at Georgetown, TX, Deanna graduated in 1990 with a degree in Studio Art
and later attended Texas A&M Commerce University where she specialized in Communication Design.
Deanna’s thoughtful attention to detail was showcased through her art, her living spaces, and her work
in graphic design. Deanna’s care and creativity were also exemplified in relationships with friends and
loved ones through homemade meals, handmade gifts, and heartfelt conversation. She found
connection in her community through her passion for gardening and would happily give a tour of the
latest developments in her garden. She sought to share her joy with everyone close to her, and it’s no
wonder that so many find it easiest to remember Deanna smiling and full of laughter.
Faced with a terminal cancer diagnosis at age 38, Deanna underwent years of cutting-edge
treatments, always striving to live the life she wanted despite these circumstances. Deanna was a
vibrant host who loved bringing people together around food and celebration and would fuss to make
visitors comfortable even in her own hospital room. Her illness did not define her, but rather brought out
the fierce determination and resilience that drove her to persevere in so many aspects of her life, from
ballet to authorship. Throughout her treatment Deanna continued to remain intimately involved in the
daily activities of her children, supporting their friendships, growth and interests in new hobbies, skills,
and career paths.
As a cancer patient and survivor, Deanna shared her unyielding positivity, extensive knowledge, and
experience with countless others to help them navigate similar challenges and advocate for themselves.
Her impact on the doctors, nurses, and patients who came to know her through her treatment journey is
one of lasting inspiration and admiration. Drawing from both these experiences and her desire to help
others, Deanna became an oncology patient navigator and cancer coach, self-publishing a book
specifically for cancer patients in the first weeks of their diagnosis. The story of Deanna’s treatment
journey as well as her guidance and experience continue to inspire those in need even after her
passing.
Deanna is survived by her parents, Charles and Sandra Schneider, her brother, Jeff Schneider
(spouse-Shonali Jacob) as well as her husband, Scott Feaster, two children-Sonja and Calvin Feaster
and their precious dog, Lucy. A celebration of life for Deanna is scheduled for Saturday, September 27,
2025 in Coppell TX from 2-5pm.
Throughout her life, Deanna benefitted from the groundbreaking research being conducted in the field
of multiple myeloma. Please consider making a gift in Deanna's name to the Multiple Myeloma
Research Foundation at themmrf.org. Deanna also benefited tremendously from the generous
donations to Texas blood banks. Please consider donating blood products in her honor.
