Dean's obituary
Dean Wollmuth, a devoted family man, educator, and lover of life, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2025. He was born on March 21, 1948, to the late Arlene and Edwin Wollmuth. Dean's life was marked by an insatiable thirst for knowledge, an unwavering commitment to his loved ones, and a deep appreciation for simple pleasures.
Dean is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Wollmuth, his loving daughter Lisa Dock, step-sons Mark, Rick, and Craig Peterson, and his son-in-law Brad Dock. He was a doting grandfather to Andrew and Thomas Peterson, and Kayden, Annika, Olivia, Frankie, and Charlie Dock. Dean is also survived by his sister, Brenda Ohlson, his brothers and sisters-in-law Mike and Bev Feipel, and Dan and Ginger Schneider. Dean was predeceased by his daughter, Alisha Wollmuth, and his brother-in-law, LeRoy Ohlson.
After graduating with a Masters in Education from the University of Minnesota in 1972, Dean embarked on a rewarding career in teaching, helping to inspire countless young minds. An outstanding athlete in his own right, Dean developed a deep love for sports and was a lifelong supporter of the Vikings and Twins.
Dean's life was rich with hobbies and interests that he thoroughly enjoyed. He loved traveling; whether that be traveling the states in his RV, flying to other countries to see the world or driving to the cabin to fish and enjoy his family. He was an avid reader, with favorites including the works of Stephan King, Lee Child, C.J. Box, and James Patterson, as well as most Science Fiction. His musical taste was grounded in Country Western, and he was a fan of television shows like National Geographic, Dr. Pole, and various science fiction programs. He found joy in playing games like Cribbage, Mexican Train, and a range of other card games.
Always active, Dean loved playing sports, fishing, woodworking, and spending time in beloved local spots like Home Plate and Debrah’s. He was passionate about causes such as the ASPCA.
Dean's life will be celebrated on August 3, 2025, at 1:00-4:00 PM at the Halcyon Cemetery and Gathering Center. Those who knew Dean are invited to share in remembering a life lived fully and with great love. Dean's spirit, humor, intelligence, and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
