Dean's obituary

Dean Edward “Sam” Letschka of Lakewood, CO.    “Son of a sailor”
On Mon., Nov. 29 at home.  A 40+ year resident of Denver, from complications of COPD & unnamed motor neuron disease.
Born in Chicago, he grew up in Park Ridge, IL, to parents Steve & Jean Letschka. He attended Maine South High School. He was the younger brother of Ivy (Michael) Guarise and Uncle of Joshua Eskonen.

A loving and generous friend to many; with a radio & musical voice and a film-worthy face, Dean was his own caricature, not known for his modesty (wink). He will be remembered as larger than life; entertaining most every moment since childhood. He would captain his beloved Hobie Cat (or any boat), sing Sinatra - or anything at Karaoke (or his famous birthday calls), report the Denver Metro traffic, ride a bull  - or a parade float, host a bar trivia game, operate heavy equipment, correct your word usage, cook up his "Natural Born Killer" Chili, fell a tree and help out his friends with EQUAL enthusiasm! When he passed, his heart was on overload but he never lacked for spirit. He will be missed.

A Denver area memorial celebration in Dean’s honor will be announced for early in 2022.
