Dean's obituary
Dean Edward Hundl, 54, passed away January 20, 2023. He was born January 26, 1968, in Houston, TX to Florence Marie Hundl and Daniel Emil Hundl. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his two children Bailey Wayne Hundl and Lexi Noelle Hundl; Danielle Drake, who he loved as a daughter; his three sisters, Diana Heitfeld, Elaine Tesch, and Cissy Horn; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends who he loved with his whole heart.
Dean attended Sam Houston High School, where he met some amazing friends he would carry with him for the rest of his life. He loved softball, playing for many years and eventually coaching a Little League team. In 2003, he became a children's pastor at The Worship Center, now known as City Church. He had a deep love for children because, at heart, he still was one. He knew how to hold onto that childlike joy that too many people lose sight of.
Dean was a deeply silly person who was always looking for life's next punchline. He could turn any frown into a smile, and any smile into a laugh. The only thing he took seriously was loving the people around him. His love was uncomplicated, easily given and easily felt. For most of us, love is a maze that we walk through; for Dean, it was a straight line.
Dean stayed true to his friends and family. He lovingly pestered his sister. And he gave his children the purest, most wholehearted support you've ever seen. He will be missed, remembered, and forever loved - more than he could ever know.
