Daytrina's obituary
Daytrina China Louise Parham-Jones was born on July 3, 1962, to Martha Colone and Dayton Marshall (father preceded in death). She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, wife, and friend who touched countless lives with her radiant smile, generous spirit, and unwavering faith. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age and had an unbreakable spirit, an inspiring determination, and a compassionate heart that made her a light to everyone around her. She was born and raised in Chicago, IL where she was known for her kindness, laughter, and the joy she brought to every room she entered.
Daytrina attended Morgan Park High School and graduated from Saint Xavier University, with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She went on and pursued a fulfilling career in Nursing, and later became a Director of Nursing (DON). Her dedication, work ethic, and love for her profession left an indelible mark on those she worked with. Outside of her career, Daytrina was deeply involved with her family, where she dedicated much of her time uplifting family members. As a shining light, she made everyone smile and had a significant impact on her family. Her love for helping people was evident in everything she did. Friends and family often recall her contagious laughter, gentle wisdom, and the countless ways she showed up for others in their times of need.
With the warmest heart, Daytrina loved, valued, and cherished her family. She was a devoted wife to Elvin Jones, loving mother to Reginald “Treundus” Parham and Marcus Parham (father Reginald Bracey), Rashena Hill (father Roosevelt Walker), Cody Hill (son-in-law). Jabriell Jamal Jones her baby son who she has now joined in heaven. She adored her grandchildren, Marcus Jr., Marseille (mother Semone), McKenzie, Tahj, Emma, and Mariah. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life along with her beloved mother Martha Colone. Daytrina shared an unbreakable bond with her sister Sylvia Parham, two brothers Sylvester Colone (Ramona), Robert Colone, and special nieces Ranteria Chapman and Ambrea French (Oscar); Uncle Mack Parham (Mary), Aunt Mary Lee Vinson, and Aunt Imogene Parham, best friends Emma Jean “Doo”and Maudie Mae. Her family meant everything to her, and her legacy of love, resilience, and compassion lives on in all of us.
Daytrina also leaves a host of admirable aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends who will forever cherish her memory. Her passing leaves a void in our hearts, yet we remain comforted knowing her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us.
On February 14, 2025, Daytrina was guided home by the Lord and greeted by her loving son Jabriell Jamal Jones and grandparents Robert and Katie Parham and Emmit Haynes.
