Dayton's obituary

Dayton Carlisle Willis

North Augusta, SC – Dayton Carlisle Willis, 16, entered into rest August 31, 2023. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted by the family, Monday, September 11, at 2 o’clock at True North Church. Revs Lee, Davis and Jennings officiating. A private interment will be held at Westover Memorial Park.

Dayton was born August 30, 2007, and was a lifelong resident of North Augusta, SC, having recently begun his 10th grade studies at Northside High School in Columbus, GA. Dayton attended True North Church throughout his childhood and middle school years. He had a great musical talent and an affinity for art. Dayton’s skills included drawing, painting, and he had a passion for creating unique outfits of clothing. He was gifted with the spirit of discernment, knowing exactly how to connect with people and assisting those in need. Dayton was immensely loyal and those who knew him, loved him. He was regarded by all as a selfless giver with a generous heart. Dayton was a young man of few words however; he pondered deeply on the important things life. He had an incredible whit and sense of humor. As a practical jokester, he had a knack for bringing joy to all around him. Dayton had a strong love for animals, especially his cat, Moon. However, his greatest joy in life was his family. He particularly enjoyed the time spent with his brother Kam, who he admired tremendously.

Surviving family members left to cherish his memory include his mother, Ashley Smith Willis (Jim Campbell) of North Augusta, SC; his father, Jon Dayton “Bo” Willis, Jr. (Joy Bishchoff Meadows) of Columbus, GA; a brother, Kameron Waters (Eleshwa Fahmie); his maternal grandparents, Alan Carlise Smith and Melinda Dean Smith; his paternal grandparents, Jon Dayton Willis and Amy Johnson Willis; his uncles, Timothy Smith (Melissa) and Daniel Smith (Sarah); his aunts, Elizabeth Szoka (Eric), Barbara “Beth” Johnson, and Trace’ Copeland (Dallis); his cousins, Sarah Copeland, Evans Copeland, and Evelyn Smith.

In lieu of flowers the family has set up a memorial site at everloved.com.  All donations received will be gifted in Dayton’s memory to organizations that support animal rescue.
