Davita's obituary
Davita (Jones) Davis, passed quietly in the arms of Jesus Friday evening, February 11, 2022.
Davita was Born November 18, 1963, to David and Malita Jones in Portland, Oregon. Davita was born an adventurer and lived her life that way. She loved crafting of all kinds but was particularly good at sewing, baking, flower arranging, and creating nature crafts from things she found along trails and on beaches. She had an uncanny ability of turning what many would consider discarded items into beautiful things. Even more than crafting, Davita loved to read. As a child it was common for Davita to walk to the library coming home carrying a stack of books as long as her arms held in place by her chin.
Davita loved The Lord and her church in the woods, Mountain View Church at Greensprings. Apart from her family, her favorite activities happened at the church worshiping and her food ministry. She loved her ministry with the church food pantry, often making something warm and comforting on Saturday mornings for those in need of food and/or human comfort and a kind, encouraging word. Her gentle, loving spirit brought hope, comfort, and a full tummy to many.
Davita also enjoyed old cowboy movies and singing cowboys. She would say; “it’s impossible to stay in a sad or bad mood when you’re listening to singing Cowboys.”
She is preceded in death by her mother Malita Jones, father David Jones, mom Ruth Jones, and brothers Chris, Keith, and Kevin Jones.
Davita was blessed by love overflowing at the end of her life. She is survived by the “love I had been waiting for my whole life and never thought I’d have”, Scott Engel of Talent, Oregon, her children Allen Jones of Oregon, Sarah Hight (Granddaughter Evelynn) and Danielle Davis (Justin)of Ashland Oregon, Charity Tyler (grandson Jaden) of Honolulu, Hawaii, brothers, Bill Ritchey (Nell) of Topeka, Kansas, Von Jones (Heather) of Mason, Ohio, a sister, Cathy Dunkle (Mike) of Columbia, Missouri, a God-sent sister, Linda Rudd of Ashland, Oregon, several nieces and nephews, and LOTS of great and grand nieces and nephews.
Our family would like to thank all those people, community services, healthcare workers for working so hard for her; Davita was very grateful for you all. Scott Engle and Linda Rudd, thank you for following the Holy Spirit’s nudge, loving and supporting our mother and sister bringing a love to her life that she knew was nothing short of God-sent, thank you is not enough.
In the words of one of Davita’s favorite singing cowboy couple,
Happy Trails to you, Sissy, until we meet again…
