30th Annual Secay Golf Tourney

I met Davis through Paul Breen, back in the late 80’s while working at Migent in Incline Village. Even then, Davis was not just any ordinary person, he was a remarkable man who lived a life of kindness, generosity, fun, and love.

He was one of the most caring and thoughtful individuals I have ever had the privilege of knowing. He always had a kind word to say and never hesitated to lend a helping hand. He had a heart that was overflowing with love and compassion for others, and he was always willing to go out of his way to make a difference in people's lives.

In addition to his kindness and thoughtfulness, Davis was incredibly generous. He never hesitated to give of his time, his resources, and his love to those who needed it most. He had a genuine desire to help others, whether it was with a hammer, or just a shoulder to lean on.

When it came to having fun, Davis could light up a room with his laughter and silliness. I can hear his voice singing Men, Men, Men, Men…it’s great to be on a ship with men; I can see him laughing while competing for the “bite the bag” drinking game; and I still laugh when he taught us all the “alligator dance” on the floor at the Chateau at the 10th Secay.

But perhaps what was most remarkable about Davis was his capacity to love. He loved his wife Annie deeply and fiercely, and his love was felt by everyone who knew him. He was a true friend and a devoted partner, and he cherished the relationships he had with the people in his life. His love was an inspiration to us all, and it will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

Davis will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His kindness, generosity, fun, and love touched so many lives, and his memory will live on as a testament to the impact that one person can have in this world. May he rest in peace, knowing that he made a difference in the lives of so many.

Ann, I really don't have any words that could convey what my heart is feeling at the loss of Davis. I am so sorry and am sending a big Mid-west hug to you and all who are grieving right now. The last week has been a roller-coaster of emotions...really, a good description of life: losses, accidents, disappointments but also weddings, births, wonderful vacations and so many happy moments. These all weave the tapestry of our lives; however, I hope and believe that the blessings outweigh the challenges.

I remember meeting the Clark family for the first time...boy, what a group! I was SO overwhelmed by all the friendly and welcoming brothers, sisters and mom (Cookie Grandma!). Nametags would have been a nice touch, but I soon learned all their names and we have all grown together into a very tightly woven family that I wouldn't trade for the world. So many get-togethers, family trips and holidays. So much joy and laughter. Davis was a huge part of that and, although he wasn't able to be around for all of those gatherings, when we were together we were spending  as many "fun units" as possible!

Yes, we will grieve. Yes, we will miss him dearly. But, once the pain subsides, we can look back on all of the great times we had and realize how blessed we ALL were to have been touched by Davis' kindness, cheerfulness and love.

One last thing. At a Catholic funeral Mass they usually sing a farewell song that always touches me deeply. I believe it was no coincidence that Davis died during Lent. This is our farewell song to you, Davis. If you have never heard it here are the words:

"May choirs of angels lead you into paradise, And may the martyrs come to welcome you. To bring you home to the holy city. So you may dwell in New Jerusalem. May holy angels be there at your welcoming, With all the saints who go before you there. That you may know the peace and joy of paradise. That you may enter into everlasting rest."

(Here it is on YouTube if you'd like to hear it:  https://youtu.be/0K6-wQmiIy8)

May we all find peace and grieve with great hope. Easter is coming! Love you Davis! Until we meet again...

Annie don’t think needs saying but you 2 are sweet peas in a sweet pea pod. Am so sorry. Was just thinking of you guys cuz I just got my burning man ticket. He a good earth guardian!
Paul Breen
1986, Incline Village, NV, USA
Where to start?  I grew up with Davis’s family in Michigan. When I came west, I moved  in with A&D in Incline, for a month back in April of 1986.  They welcomed me just like they did everyone - with open arms.   Over the years we shared many special experiences:  golf, racketball, x-country skiing, downhill skiing, camping trips, swimming you name it.   He was so fun to be around and always the life of the party.   Will always remember our Thursday night wine and popcorn parties and all the times we made pizza’s together.   Can’t even count all the holidays together.  Very special memories!!  After Sue and I were married we lived next door to Davis and Ann and they have always been a big part  of our family - even Godparents to our youngest. I’m still in shock over his passing but will find peace in knowing that he is watching over us.   Ann know that we will be there for you.  Love you bunches
Davis was from a large family and got together with us often.  His laugh, love, kind words, sense of humor and compassionate outgoing spirit will be missed by all.  We all love you and will always love you.  We look forward to meeting again in heaven where there is no pain, no sorry, no sense of loss.  We miss you already!
