David's obituary

David Denton Walker, age 57, of Karnes City, Texas went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, after coming to an end of his long, hard-fought battle with end stage heart failure. He was born to Dwain and Sherry Walker on August 25, 1965, in Canyon, Texas.

David was a loving son, brother, father and grandfather. He was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps in July of 1987 as a Corporal and held certifications as a QASO and CDI. He went on to work for Boeing and Fairchild Aircraft until he suffered back injuries while on the job. These injuries left him disabled and he was able to stay home as he helped raise his children. David took pride and joy in education and enjoyed helping his girls with schoolwork, especially math, like his mother, who was a math teacher for many years. He spent the rest of his time working on a ranch and doing what he loved most – hunting and fishing. David was a selfless man who went out of his way to help others in any way that he could. In his free time, he enjoyed mentoring youth, cooking and looked forward to his annual hunting and fishing trips with his brothers Chuck and Rodney.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dwain and Sherry Walker; and brother Charles “Chuck” Walker.

David is survived by his step-mother, Bobbie Sue Walker; brother, Rodney Walker; daughters, Ashley Zapata and Megan Mathis; their husbands, Dustin Zapata and Curtis Mathis; and grandchildren, Karson Zapata, Amara Mathis, Lydia Mathis and Abednego Mathis

But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 KJV

A graveside service will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, Friday, May 5th at 10:15 AM.
