David's obituary
David Albert Strebe, 90, born in Buffalo, New York, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
David was born on August 21, 1933, in Buffalo, New York, to the late William Conrad Strebe and Mary Dorothy Schott. He spent most of his childhood in El Cajon, California. He was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints since June 3, 1950, dedicating his life to his faith, family, and community.
In April 1953, David proudly served his country in the United States Army and fought bravely in the Korean War. Following his military service, he served a mission in Korea in 1957, where he strengthened his lifelong commitment to helping others.
On June 24, 1960, David married the love of his life, LaRea Gibbons. Together, they built a loving and supportive family, raising six children who brought them immense joy and pride. David is survived by their six children, 27 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren, all of whom he cherished deeply.
David was known for his unwavering faith, his dedication to his family, and his generous spirit. He found great joy in serving others, both in his church and in his community. He was a mentor to many and a source of strength and inspiration to all who knew him. One of his greatest sources of joy in his life was family history and attending the temple. Even in his final days he made time to attend the temple.
A celebration of David's life will be held on August 10, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Mesa, Arizona. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM. Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Missionary Fund in David's memory.
David's legacy of love, service, and faith will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
