David's obituary

David Jerome Similton died January 31, 2025 after a long fought battle with metastatic cancer. He was 56 years old.

David was born October 20, 1968 to Johnnie Mae Scott and David Jerome Knight in Greenville Alabama. David’s formative years were spent both there and Florida until his enrollment in both the United States Army (1988-1992) and later Marine Corps (1992-1998). While stationed in Newburgh, NY, David met his wife Maria DaSilva, whom he married in 1999. He then began work at Eastern Alloys where he continued to work as a Senior Lab Technician for 26 years.

David is survived by his wife Maria Similton; two children Oliver (Previously known as Alyssa) and Jeremie Similton; his Mother Johnnie Mae Scott; siblings Deasmond Knight, Renwick Knight, and Felicia Knight; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; as well as the many friends he made over the years across the US.

David fought cancer like a marine. A service will be held on February 6th, 2025 from 4-8pm at White, Venuto & Morill Funeral home, located at  188 N Plank Rd, Newburgh, NY 12550.
