We all lost such a bright star.

Miss you dear friend. And, because so many things still remind me of you, think about you way too much. This blessing however, still keeps your memory alive in my heart.

It was on a crisp fall day like today (10/10/24) when I serendipitously met a joyful 20 yr. “kid” in Philadelphia. He told me he was beginning his art studies at PAFA. We shared a friendship for about 3 yrs. when he lived in PHL in a first floor spacious studio apt. on Delancey Street. He was young, naive, so curious and talented (I said his work reminded me of Piranesi)  — and exuberantly  joyful - he would walk the streets of PHL barefoot!  It’s on a fall day like today when the blue skies, falling leaves and cool weather bring back fond memories of David. A brief time period but such a memorable one. I now wish we had remained in contact but, alas, life intervened.

I saw the following posting and immediately thought of the young David I knew so many years ago in Philadelphia. It arrived on his birthday. Serendipity…”there are some people who have sun inside them. it’s hard to explain. their presence just brightens, it’s not about their beautiful smiles. they have an internal being that sheds light and feels like sun. it’s a calm energy. inner peace. but most importantly, it’s not wanting anything back in return. it’s sun.” Happy Birthday, David.

I was one of David’s first friends when he came to Philadelphia to study at PAFA. He was in PHL for about two years. I still have his correspondences with me and a drawing. I remember his laugh and smile… He will always have a special place in my heart. So sad for his passing. RIP, David.
