David's obituary
David Gerard Sauers
David Gerard Sauers, of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Edward and Margaret Sauers (née Cooper), Dave grew up with a curiosity about the world and a deep appreciation for its beauties. He attended Central High School in Philadelphia, graduating with the 237th class with honors and distinctions for his outstanding academic and leadership abilities.
Dave went on to Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, where he majored in psychology and graduated in 1988. His professional journey began in the food service industry, where his talent and drive led to progressively greater responsibilities across multiple companies. This career, one he approached with passion, introduced him to the world of cuisine—a lifelong love. His work took him across the country, from Annandale, Virginia, to Washington, DC, Chicago, South Carolina, and finally Georgia.
Taking after his father, a musician at heart, Dave developed a profound love for classical music and played the piano with grace and beauty. He was a devoted patron of the arts, frequently attending performances of all kinds, and found joy in travel and exploring new places. Above all, Dave had a tremendous affection for his furry, four-legged friends, whose companionship brought him endless happiness.
Dave was predeceased by his father, Edward Sauers. He is survived by his loving partner, Robert Dudley; his mother, Margaret Sauers; and his sister, Margaret “Midge” Daniels (Sauers).
A virtual ceremony to celebrate Dave’s life will be held on Friday, January 23rd, 2026 at 2pm EST.
