David Lamar Roquemore
LONG BRANCH — Funeral services for Mr. David Roquemore, 77 of Long Branch, Texas, will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Boynton Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home.
David Lamar Roquemore, known to friends and family as “Heavy Duty”, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 2, 2022, at his home in Long Branch, Texas with his daughter by his side. He was born on November 17, 1944, to James Andrew and Clara Mae Roquemore. He was the third of eight children.
Growing up in East Texas, he enjoyed football and choir at Carthage High School and developed a love of country backroads and old swimming holes. He believed in taking in the little moments in life. He chose to find the good in people and foster their interests. He spent many years working as a Lead Estimator at 3S Team and developed deep friendships with his work family that he valued until the end.
“Heavy Duty” was one of the names he answered to, but his favorite titles were Papa Heavy, Daddy, and friend. He loved his family whole heartedly and counted many a friend as family.
Preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Sheila Kaye Roquemore - Gheradini; brother, Jonathan P. Roquemore; nephews, Glenn Edward Davis, Jimmy Johnson, Benjamin David Davis, and Samantha Dawn Roquemore.
Left to cherish his memories and retell his stories are his brothers, Michael Andrew Roquemore, James Stephen Roquemore, and Mark Elliot Roquemore; sisters, Anita Catherine Roquemore - Johnson, Mildred Suzanne Roquemore, and Rose Marie Roquemore; daughter, Vivian Gaye Taylor; step - children, Lincoln Mitchell, Jolene Taylor, and Charles Cunningham; grandchildren, Philip Raymond Gheradini Jr, James Otis Pierce III, Jennifer Renee Gheradini - Brittenham, Tiffany Ann Pierce - Stapleton, Heather Ashley McCann, Mitchell Taylor, Autumn Taylor, and Charles Cunningham Jr; great - grandchildren, Nathaniel Lee Brittenham, Agnes Veronica Southard, James Otis Pierce IV, Alexander James Brittenham, Chayanne Rain Pierce, Emma Louis Stapleton, Maverick Michael Stapleton. Also surviving him are several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Zander Brittenham, James Pierce IV, Greg Stapleton, Brandt Roquemore, Philip Gheradini Jr, and James Pierce III.
