David's obituary
David Randall Smith went home to Jesus on September 13, 2021 at age 51. David was born to Kenneth & Terry Smith on July 26, 1970 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. As a child, he loved climbing the mango trees in Nicaragua and swimming in the metal barrels in the back yard. Rubber bands and toy soldiers brought him hours of fun! He loved to terrorize his little sister, Denise, with a scary mask. David also loved quoting TV shows and movies.
David was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. Throughout his entire life, he held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those who surrounded him. David dedicated many years to ministry as representative to children and youth of Assemblies of God missionaries around the world. Super Dave was an amazing youth minister in San Antonio, Texas and on Cayman Islands. He served as senior pastor of Elements Church in Santa Monica, California as well as volunteered his time as chaplain in the hospitals and prisons. His experience on the mission field in construction of church buildings with his father helped to mold his career as a general contractor. David loved what he called "the last 10%" which was all the fine tuning and details on a housing project that made his remodels and renovations a true home.
David is now in his "true home" in Heaven where he joins his four grandparents . He is survived by his parents, brother, sisters, nieces and nephews who love him deeply.
"And regarding the question, friends, that has come up about what happens to those already dead and buried, we don’t want you in the dark any longer. First off, you must not carry on over them like people who have nothing to look forward to, as if the grave were the last word. Since Jesus died and broke loose from the grave, God will most certainly bring back to life those who died in Jesus." I Thessalonians 4:13-14 (The Message)
