David's obituary
David Paul Roberts, a veteran and longtime resident of Texas (most recently Poteet), passed away while in a hospital in Sacramento, CA on June 8, 2025. David was born on July 20, 1938 in Yuba City, CA to Thomas and Shirley Roberts. After high school, David enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. As a Senior Airman, David saw action in Vietnam, serving two tours there. Before these tours, he had married the love of his life, Betty. The U.S. Air Force recognized his honorable service with a Bronze Star with Valor for his heroic actions in Vietnam.
After the war, David returned home to his wife Betty and their two children, Della and Paul. He continued to serve in the Air Force, retiring after 22 years. David had a passion for the martial arts, earning a 7th Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo and a 9th Degree in Kenpo. He opened a Tracy’s Kenpo Karate Studio and was still in touch with many of his students. David was also inducted into the Karate Hall of Fame.
David was preceded in death by his wife Betty and his parents. He is survived by his sister Joanne Cryer, his daughter Della and her husband Reuben, his son Paul and his wife Jennifer, as well as his three granddaughters Tia, Naomi, and Meira.
David was greatly loved by all of his family and friends. His family has organized an online memorial service to honor David’s life and military service.
