✌🏼I saw this on a hike in ABQ, and I knew D was with me. I miss and love you! — with David

Maia, Pete, and family,

Sending my deepest condolences to you all. I was positively gutted to hear of your loss. It’s been a minute since I saw you or David, but I still remember my special zoo trip with David when he was just a little guy. So introspective and eager to explore. Thinking of you during this difficult time.

Maia, my heart breaks as I find this. I never met David but he sounds like an incredible and beautiful young man. Sending you and family all my love and prayers.
So sad… my heart hurts for you all. Hugs and prayers.

David was truly the first person who made me feel understood. He showed me the world and how to love it and everyone in it including myself.

Maia, Pete & eli…  I am thinking about you constantly, thank you for everything you’ve done for me.

I love you, always.

We are fortunate to have met David a few months ago and what a pleasant person! It was evident that his family loved him and he loved them. Take good care of yourselves and know we love you, Pete and family.

I'll always remember David with so much love and as the quirky kid who wore his Spiderman "mask" and bathrobe every chance he could. I'll also remember him as the kind young man he developed into, always ready for a deep philosophical or political conversation at any opportunity. He will leave an enormous void in our extended family and will be in our hearts forever. — with Anna Gilboard

Sorry that I never had the opportunity to meet David in person, but I do remember and do hold dear a memory of him popping into one of our video meetings.  My impression of him was happy, fun and full of life.  I’m still in a bit of shock and denial from the news and continue to hold you and your family in my heart and prayers.  May your best memories be the strongest, and I look forward to hearing more stories about this young man, gone way too soon.
David was standing near the TCA pool, ready to jump in on this very hot day.  As I came up to him, his smile spread across his face like a ray of sunshine cutting through the tightly gathered clouds.  We spoke for a few moments.  It was about nothing and everything.  In those brief moments his poise, grace, and huge heart illuminated the conversation.  He spoke about school, his thoughts about stuff, and asked me genuinely how I was doing.  Truly a remarkable human being.  Sometimes it feels like some folks we meet have a heart so big that it’s expansive beyond our humble understanding.  To me that was David; a personality that spread so far beyond the brief moments of our interaction.  He had such a capacity for joy.  That is what I will carry with me; that moment, that young man on the verge of every possibility.
