I had worked with David for over 15 years after meeting him when he started at DHL in Scottsdale.

David was a great person and Father, someone who was funny, caring and dependable.

The world is a lesser place with his passing, and all of us who knew him will miss him and what he brought to our lives.
It's really shocking when I heard about his demise...I worked with him closely a couple of months in 2017... It was truly an excellent team work lead by Dave. He is brilliant and smart always find out ways to overcome hurdles...I recently chat with him after a long gap, but he could still remember me... what a great personality!!! we will be missing him a lot...

My heartfelt condolences to his family!!!

May his soul rest in eternal peace.

I truly don’t know where or how to start. It feels like no amount of mourning could do Dave justice. He is one of a kind, in so many ways that this world desperately needs right now.

I had the privilege of working directly with Dave on a daily basis the past couple of years. He is a brilliant and compassionate person. He was always patient and teaching me new things. It was the highlight of my week when I could show him the progress I made on projects and any new ideas I had.

I had the opportunity to travel to a conference with Dave where we went out to dinner, and where he graciously gave me his drink coupons so that I could have a few extra beers. I am so glad I pried into Dave’s life on that trip, where I got to learn about his life, philosophies, and all of the family he has.

I hate so much that I’m on here writing this right now. We should be sketching diagrams and designs, not this. But I knew Dave well enough to know that he’d say something along the lines of “Dan, I didn’t want this either, but you have to get over it, get your work done, and keep moving man, I’m alright.”

Dave was a mentor, a friend, and a wonderful human being to me. He enriched my life and the lives of those around him. I take comfort in knowing that he left a large legacy of children and family who I know love him very much. Every day will be a Monday now, for quite some time. It feels wrong and empty to just go on working without him. But I feel a little more peace knowing there will be a good one on the other side.
I was listening to some songs today as I was trying to cope and came across this beautiful song, Jealous of the Angels, as the tears poured down my face I realized this was the stage of grief I was in. I am glad to have my brother as an angel by my side, but I miss him so much❤

My first time “meeting” David was when he was troubleshooting a problem at work. He was VERY technical, VERY knowledgeable, and very very calm and methodical. My boss had told me to listen in on Dave and that I’d learn a lot from him. I did.

Later on, after years of only knowing Dave through phone calls and webexes, he had to come into the office for an in person”all hands” meeting. He was super nice and gracious in person. Great person to be around. We still didn’t really work “together” at that point, just occasional “war room” calls together to work through issues.

A couple years ago I had an opportunity to work directly with Dave on a large project that we had mutual interest in. I leaped at the chance and am so thankful I did. I was in daily calls with Dave five days a week as we worked to implement some really cool things at United Healthcare. He was passionate about the project, he wanted it done right, but he also REALLY valued other people’s ideas, and made room for those ideas to grow and be implemented. Above all, he was calm and kind in every single interaction. Unless you work in this industry, you might not realize just how common it is for people to be snappy or angry or finger point during a crisis or stress. Dave was NEVER like that. Ever.

I often try to take just a minute or two at the beginning of my work calls (while we wait for people to join or for just a few moments after everyone has joined) to have a bit of “non work” talk. Over a few years of that with Dave I got to know him. He had a gentle and kind soul. His last call with our group, he actually held it that morning even though it was the very day he was admitted to the hospital. He kept it short, told us he’d see the doctor that day and he reassured US not to worry. As always, he was more concerned about us than with himself. I spoke to him VERY VERY briefly after he was in the hospital and he was the same way.

David was the sort of person this planet was better to have on it. The sort of person who leaves a hole when he’s not here.

It has now been days since he passed and I’m still not over it. It is just wrong that he’s been taken from us before his time.

Dave - I miss you. A lot.

My Cousin David was a very happy kid growing up, he could light up the room with his smile. He had an energy level through the roof and he was a real charmer.Athough I was never fortunate enough to know him as an adult, I can still see in my thoughts very clearly, David and I in my grandparents front yard playing and laughing and holding the little buttercup flowers we picked and seeing whose face glowed more, It was always Davids face with the most radiant glow, with or without the buttercups. You will always hold a place in my heart Cousin.
