What causes did David care about most?

David was passionate about history, American history in particular, and all matters relating to civil rights, in particular, the African American struggle for justice and equity in this country (& elsewhere). He loved to discuss current events with me, our son and others.
David was passionate about the movement for Reparations for African Americans in this country. We had many discussions about this, as well as lengthy discussions about the history of slavery & Jim Crow in this country. 
David & I, and our son, all share a strong interest in all matters concerning social justice. Many long discussions on such topics. David liked to keep up with current events, both here at home (the U.S.) and all around the world. 
Our views on most of these subjects were closely aligned.
David often spoke of going to visit Africa.  After getting his Ancestry DNA results, which informed him of which regions/countries his African ancestors came from, he was even more eager to visit the African motherland. Sadly, this dream of his did not have the opportunity to manifest.
