(Dave) French passed away Tuesday 15 October 2024 at his home in Washoe Valley NV, following a long and courageous battle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease ) COPD, and complications of Multiple Myeloma and Parkinsons Disease. Dave was 79 years old. He was born in Ironton, Missouri to the late Eldon and Juanita French of Farmington Missouri. He is survived by his loving wife Eileen (nee Mckeever) of Washoe Valley, 3 Grandchildren, Cortney Lopez of Reno NV, Scott French (E.J.) of Reno, NV and Shelby Garcia (Jorge) of Carson City NV. He is also survived by two Great Grandchildren, Indika (Lopez) and Catalina (Garcia). His brother Ronald French (Melinda) of Davenport Iowa also survives him. Dave was preceded in death by his son Sean French, a daughter Shiela French, and a Brother Larry French of Redding CA. Dave and Eileen were married in Reno, NV on May 30th 1965 and were happily married for 59 years. Following their marriage Dave and Eileen lived in Sunnyvale CA, where their son Sean and daughter Shiela were born. Dave worked at Kashmir Carpets and floor coverings (a business his father founded) until the mid-1970’s, when he and Eileen moved to Los Gatos, and later Gilroy, ca. They subsequently moved to Washoe Valley in 2000 where Dave eventually established his own business (Kismet Carpet) serving the Reno and Washoe Valley area until his death. Dave was a horseman and he and Eileen established “Silhouette Farm” during their time in Los Gatos and Gilroy to raise and show Purebred Arabian and Half Arabian horses. The operation continued with them when they moved to Nevada. He was a great dreamer and organizer and was responsible for the breeding and care of several prize horses including “Mystress Merri"” who won a Top Five national championship in 1995. Dave honed his love for horses to eventually become a judge at several shows. A lifetime car racing enthusiast Dave was active in the local Sprint Car racing scene and driving his number 5 car was a passion. He also enjoyed attending Nascar races. Dave was loved and admired by all who knew him, he was a Christian who loved his Savior and was active at his church (Hilltop Community Church of Carson City). Dave had great confidence in his salvation and in what the Apostle Paul wrote when comforting the believers in Thessaloniki who had lost loved ones. He was a “1 Thessalonians 4” Man in his thoughts and actions, always focused on the promise. ………
1 Thessalonians 4:13
13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
Dave had the privilege of reading these very verses at his mother’s funeral in 1999 and lived in the certain hope of meeting Jesus and being reunited with those loved ones who preceded him. Dave will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who had the good fortune to know and love him. His remains were placed in the care Nevada Funeral Services and await scattering. A Celebration of Life service is set for November 23rd at 2 PM at Hilltop Community Church, 3588 Romans Road, Carson City NV 89705 . Family and friends are encouraged to attend to celebrate his life and his homecoming to heaven.
