David's obituary
Architect and writer, David Jurado Lorenzana, was called to the lord at the age of 79 on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family. After a courageous battle with prostate cancer, David stayed strong until the very end.
David was born in October of 1942 in Manila, Philippines. After proudly graduating from Union High School of Manila, he pursued a Bachelor's of Science degree in Architecture & Planning. In 1974, David immigrated to the United States. He devoted a great part of his life as an architect for several prominent companies throughout his career. By fate, David met the love of his life, Diana Cepeda, at a wedding in Monterrey, Mexico in 1986. They instantly realized their remarkable bond and started a family after marrying in 1987. Their 34 years of marriage was filled with endless happiness. With unconditional love and support from his family, David realized his dreams of starting his own architecture business in San Antonio, Texas. He stayed involved in his community, becoming President of the Filipino Friendship Society while living in Chicago, Illinois. He had an unforgettable sense of humor and friendliness as a leader.
David’s pride was in his family, and he lived a vibrant life full of love and adventure. He had the opportunity to explore the world, from Asia to Europe, and embraced the culture alongside his wife. David’s passion for the arts was evident in his collection of paintings and ceramics that he cherished from many countries and brought into his own home. His creativity lives on in his published book, Gone to America, which documents memoirs of his life. Aside from his major accomplishments, David found the simplest pleasures in life by delving into his family history, gardening, reading, spending time with his family, and reuniting with his high school classmates. One of his most recent fond memories was a trip to the Philippines with his wife to visit his hometown and family.
David is predeceased by his parents, Sostenes Lorenzana and Nicomedes Jurado; and brothers, Leonardo Lorenzana, Reynaldo Lorenzana, and Elias Lorenzana. He is survived by his wife, Diana Lorenzana; Children– Daniel Lorenzana, Melanie Lorenzana, David Jr. Lorenzana, Jonathan Lorenzana, Dana Culhane, and Joyce Wagoner; Grandchildren– Justin Lorenzana, Nathan Lorenzana, John Robbie Calanglang, John Randell Calanglang, Connor Culhane, and Holly Wagoner; Great-grandchild–Sophie Gimber; Siblings–Myrna Frausto, Sostenes Jr., Ferdinand, Delia Ringor, Estrella Jurado and Evangeline Lanot. He will forever be remembered as a brilliant, caring, and playful person to all loved ones.
