David's obituary

David Leah Sparks, 74, passed away on December 25, 2023, in Appleton, Wisconsin. He was born on January 21, 1949, in Baltimore, Maryland. David, having joined at the age of 17, served in Vietnam from February 28, 1968 through March 16, 1969, in the United States Marine Corps. After 12 years of service, and earning the rank of Staff Sergeant he was honorably discharged in March of 1978.

David is survived by his wife, JoAnn Happle Sparks. His cherished daughters Samantha Young (Mike), Cassandra Murray (Ken), and Amanda Nichols (Terry), whom he shared from his first marriage; and David Brewer whom he and his wife JoAnn adopted. He also leaves behind many grandchildren: Beth Whittaker (Matt), Jasmine Sullivan (Richard), Bradley Potter (Madison), Edward Siek, Savannah Osborne (Blake), Brooke Nichols, and Michael Nichols, as well as his great-grandchildren: Aubrey Diaz, Chandler Whittaker, Emma Diaz, Lucas Whittaker, Winnie Carter, Presley Shockley, and James Shockley. David is also survived by his dear sister, Paula Belles, and nieces: Jamie Belles, Sarah Belles, and Carly Belles.

He was preceded in death by his father Wilton Alton Sparks, mother Emma Marie Randall, and brother Paul Christian Miciche.

David, as a young man enjoyed riding motorcycles, camping and crab fishing with his daughters, and traveling. In his golden years he loved building model cars, playing video games, and spending time with his loyal furry companion Miss Abby.

A memorial service will be held on December 31, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Brettschneider Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel & Crematory located at 606 N Oneida St, Appleton, WI 54914. Military honors will follow the service.
